“Hurry up and grab this tree, and then escape,” says a donkey named Bo to Herod’s two mighty warrior dogs, falling into a steep valley. Their master is falling into a great valley just like them. Yet he has in his possession a chain that binds his dogs. Even though Bo extends his helping hands.
The two watchdogs look at Bo angrily. In the belief that they have a master who is able to save us. The soldier had little chance of escaping by climbing the rock at the top. But how long can one hold on with one hand to his two dogs and hold on with one hand to a rock on the cliff that climbs? Finally, he drops the chain in his hand without any mercy. But as he climbed up the cliffs, he fell down.
This is a scene from the 2017 Christmas movie The Star. Herod sends his soldier to find and kill the newborn child of Mary and Joseph. The film is about a donkey named Bo, a lamb named Rebecca, and a dove named Dave who make great efforts to save the divine child.
They were walking the streets of Bethlehem in all sorts of arrogance in search of Mary and the baby. They also had the pride of being dogs of their mighty master. So when Joseph and Mary came to the edge of the manger, the camels of the kings who had come to see baby Jesus dragged the three of them into the valley. But Bo, Mary’s best friend, feels sorry for them. So even though Bo’s life is in danger, he grabs that big chain and tries to save those two evil dogs. Dave and Rebecca also stand by and encourage Bo. Eventually, Rebecca grabs the chain and rescues them.
When they got back up, the camels bit the heavy chain around their necks and freed them. They nod with a sigh and say sadly: ‘We are bad dogs’ – we are bad dogs.’ On hearing this, Bo says very kindly: ‘You will not be like that anymore. Because you are free now. ‘ With that being said, Bo gathers them all together and runs to the manger, saying that the Savior has been born for us. The freed dogs were also followed by them.
What happened to those two animals here was an upliftment from the valley of great mistakes in life to the good. It was only when the pages of hatred and enmity were removed from their lives that they realized what was good. They also had the opportunity to see the Savior because of their willingness to confess and repent of their condition. We can also follow the example of Bo, who showed us the path of goodness in a single sentence that you are free. We need to understand that the one who rises is the one who erases a lot of evils with one good.
This is the message of Christmas. Being free eliminates the possibility of darkness in life. The Savior is born in our hearts when we destroy the many thousands of darknesses like this and open up the beautiful possibilities of light to others.
Christmas gives us moments that make sense of the scriptures that say, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” (Matthew 5: 8). We all want to put all the worries of life aside and add life to the joy of birth. We need to know the true presence of God in that one meeting.
The dogs rescued by Bo also get a chance to see the Savior Jesus later. With hatred, enmity, and arrogance within, they searched for Jesus with his master but could not find him. But after the subsequent confession, they get a chance to see and worship the Savior. In that great deliverance from the shackles of evil, they could see the Messiah.
It is when we let go of the bad thoughts inside us that our heart is transformed into a grassroots. Our prayer should be for that one grace. He will surely hear the heartfelt prayer to prepare the heart. The coals that burn in a fireplace will always have only the experience of pain and heat. But the warmth inside makes sense when the big thing happens that the cold of those gathered around it is taken away.
With this in mind, let us be prayerful this Christmas season. Surely we will become hope in the lives of others when we take away our inner pride and hatred and instead fill them with love, consideration, and goodness.
There is a beautiful Christmas song that starts with ‘Joy to the word’. This song is a reminder that while the whole world rejoices in the birth of Jesus, He must be born in human hearts and nowhere else. In such a sense, the days of this spiritual celebration. May Jesus be born in our hearts. Let that bright star that shows the right path shine above thoughts.
