Three Life Lessons from St. Rose of Lima

St. Rose of Lima is the first canonized saint born in the Americas. Despite holding this honour, her life was quite simple. Many aspects of her life encourage those of us trying to become saints today. Here we share the three life lessons from the Saint.

1. Cultivate piety through daily prayer, Communion, and spiritual reading.

St. Rose of Lima’s devotion to her faith is an inspiration to us all. She incorporated daily prayer and Communion into her life, and her love for Our Lady of the Rosary and Dominican spirituality guided her. We can follow her example by prioritizing our spiritual growth and deepening our relationship with God.

2. Foster genuine friendships that support your spiritual journey.

St. Rose of Lima’s friendships with other saints, including St. Martin de Porres and St. John Massias, demonstrate the importance of surrounding ourselves with like-minded individuals who share our values and support our spiritual growth. We can learn from her example by nurturing our friendships and building a community that encourages us to become better versions of ourselves.

3. Accept God’s will and trust in His plan.

St. Rose of Lima’s life was marked by challenges and uncertainties, but she always trusted in God’s plan. She accepted her calling to a life of perpetual virginity and faced persecution from her family and friends. She also endured physical and spiritual suffering but never lost faith. We can learn from her example by embracing God’s will, even when it’s difficult, and trusting that He has a plan to prosper us, not to harm us.
