Vatican Postpones Canonization of Carlo Acutis Following Pope Francis’ Death

The Vatican has officially announced the postponement of the canonization of Blessed Carlo Acutis, scheduled for April 27, following the death of Pope Francis. The Eucharistic celebration and canonization rite, set to take place during the Jubilee of Adolescents on Divine Mercy Sunday, have been postponed until further notice.

Despite the postponement of the canonization, the Mass scheduled for Sunday as part of the Jubilee of Adolescents will still be celebrated. Over 80,000 teenagers had registered to participate in the event, which is one of the most important events of the Holy Year 2025. Blessed Carlo Acutis, known as the “cyber-apostle of the Eucharist,” had generated great expectations among young faithful and pilgrims around the world.

The Jubilee of Adolescents was set to be a significant event, bringing together thousands of young people from around the world to celebrate their faith and witness the canonization of Blessed Carlo Acutis. The postponement of the canonization is a result of the sudden passing of Pope Francis, and a new date will be announced in due course.
