“Motherhood is not a problem, it is a gift”, Peruvian Archbishop on Mother’s Day

Msgr. José Antonio Eguren, the Archbishop of Piura and Tumbes (Peru) sent greetings and thanks to all the mothers and grandmothers on the occasion of Mother’s Day this Sunday and reflected on the gift of motherhood.

“Motherhood is not a problem, it is a gift, it is the most wonderful gift that a woman can have, because it means participating in the creative power of God-Love himself,” the Prelate’s message says which was released on 13 May.

“A mother knows very well that a child is never a problem or a burden, but rather a blessing, good news, even in the most unexpected and difficult circumstances and moments,” he added.

Bishop Eguren asked that “in the face of radical pro-abortion feminism, incapable of seeing the greatness and beauty of motherhood and human life as a miraculous gift from God, we revalue today and always the gift of motherhood, of which millions of women are today a luminous testimony”.

“There is the testimony of mothers who fight for the future of their children in the midst of rain and poverty. There is the testimony of those who are mothers of children with special abilities, who make an effort every day, ”he continued.

She also highlighted the testimony of those mothers “who are the head of their home alone, and make an effort to give everything for their children, because a mother knows how to testify, even in the worst moments, to love, tenderness, dedication, moral strength, the sacrifice, and the surrender”.

Bishop Eguren took the opportunity to thank for all the “good and beautiful things” that mothers and grandmothers “incarnate and mean for their children, for our society and for the Church.”

“Thank you for defending life from conception to birth, and during all stages of existence until its natural end. Thank you for loving your children for being children, for welcoming them even when they come into life unexpectedly, because a child is never a mistake, ”he continued.

In addition, he thanked them for transmitting “the supernatural life of faith to their children”, because “without mothers, not only would there be no new faithful, but, as Pope Francis reminds us, faith would lose much of its simple and profound warmth. , of its beauty and its attraction”.

In his message, the Archbishop urged to give a “loving kiss to our mother.”

“To the one who feeds us, who protects us from our conception, who defends us from dangers, who heals and cares for us in our illnesses, who never stops giving us her advice, and who in the silence of her room prays and asks always for our good to the Lord and to the Virgin, many times with tears in their eyes, “he said.

“And to those who are in heaven, let us give today the tender kiss of our prayer and our grateful memory, with the certainty that from there they look at us with love, and continue to care for us with their prayer and intercession,” he added.

Finally, he asked the Virgin Mary, “to protect each earthly mother.”

“May all mothers be able to perform their daily service in the family, in the Church, and in society with dedication and fidelity. May the Virgin Mary be their support, comfort and hope for all of them! Happy Mother’s Day! ”, he concluded.
