Kenya’s Lenten Campaign Calls for National Renewal and Equity

The Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) has launched a Lenten campaign, urging spiritual and social transformation for national renewal. The campaign’s theme, “Building a Just, Peaceful and United Kenya: Upholding Equity and Human Dignity,” addresses pressing issues like leadership failures, economic hardship, election violence, and environmental destruction.

Bishop Simon Peter Kamomoe, Chairman of the KCCB’s Catholic Justice and Peace Department, emphasizes that Lent is a time for humility, conversion, and deeper awareness of dependence on God. The 40-day journey is structured around five key areas: leadership and integrity, public debt and taxation, sanctity of human life, youth and technology, and environmental protection.

The Bishops urge Kenyans to confront national challenges with renewed commitment to justice, peace, and human dignity. They highlight the importance of protecting human life, promoting safe technology use, and preserving the environment. The campaign encourages individuals to slow down, listen to God’s word, and allow His call to shape their inner lives.
