Christ the Redeemer Lights Up for 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup Countdown

The iconic Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro was illuminated in green and yellow on June 24, 2026, to mark one year until the start of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027. The monument also displayed a projection of the tournament’s official logo, kicking off the countdown to the event set for June 24 to July 25, 2027.The projection was carried out in collaboration with the Sports and Faith Center of the sanctuary.

The lighting in Brazil’s national colors highlighted the country’s role as host for the tournament.The 2027 edition will be the first FIFA Women’s World Cup held in South America. It will feature 32 teams across eight host cities: Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Salvador, Recife, Fortaleza, and Porto Alegre.With one year to go, 14 teams — including host nation Brazil — have already qualified. The remaining spots will be filled through ongoing qualifying tournaments. The final draw to determine the group stage will take place later this year.
