Opening Prayer:
O Holy Infant Jesus of Prague, behold us prostrate at Thy feet imploring Thy blessing and assistance. We firmly believe in Thy goodness, Thy love and Thy mercy. We also know that the more we honor Thee, the more Thou wilt bless us. Remember that thou hast told us to ask, to seek, and to knock at the Door of Thy Infinite Mercy. So it is with the greatest confidence that we kneel before Thee today. Teach us how to ask that we may receive; show us how o seek what we find. Be pleased to listen while we knock, O Divine Infant Jesus, and open Thy loving Heart to our trustful supplication. Amen.
O Mary, Mother of God and our Immaculate Mother pray to Jesus for us.
MEDITATION
The Infinite Mercy of Jesus
“I will have mercy and not sacrifice” (Matt. 12:7)
Jesus is most merciful to all who seek His aid. His mercy is extended both to just and sinners. And, we may safely believe that He is inclined to show greater mercy and more solicitude for the sinner; For our Divine Master Himself has told us that He came to seek not the just but sinners. It is most consoling to recall that Jesus assured us: “They that well have no need of a physician, but they who are sick. For I came not to call the just, but sinners.” Who of us is not spiritually ill to a greater or lesser degree? Are we not children of Eve? Then, indeed we stand in great need of the kind ministrations of our Divine Physician. We need Him to cure all the infirmities of our souls.
Jesus is our good shepherd Who goes out seeking the lost and wayward sheep. His tender heart is always ready to show mercy and forgiveness to those who are sorry for having offended Him. We have only to be sincerely repentant to experience a torrent of mercy flowing from the compassionate Heart of Jesus.
Jesus is always merciful and forgiving! Mary Magdalene was truly contrite and she received the complete remission of her sins. The good thief was repentant on the cross, and heaven’s gate was immediately opened to him. Who can ever doubt the inexhaustible mercy of our Gentle Jesus? Have we ourselves not experienced His admirable compassion in the Sacrament of Penance after a fall? But what is mercy? Is it not compassion in the face of misery? So it is! We are all sojourners in this valley of tears; therefore we seek the compassion, forgiveness, and the mercy of the Infant Jesus.
Just as he had compassion on the hungry multitude who had followed Him in the desert for three days, so will Jesus have compassion on us. He would not send them away fasting lest they should faint in the way. Hence, to nourish their famished bodies, our merciful Jesus multiplied the loaves and the fishes; He worked a miracle for them. In like manner will our loving Savior work a miracle of grace to nourish our famished souls, if we only draw nearer to Him, and seek His help. May our merciful Infant Jesus have mercy on us and help us.
Concluding Prayer
O Holy Infant Jesus, Who dost reveal Thyself to little ones, show me Thy mercy and compassion. While venerating this sacred mystery of Thy mortal life, grant that I may learn to exercise this noble virtue of mercy toward my fellow beings for the love of Thee. Look mercifully upon me as I kneel before Thee and implore Thy powerful assistance. If it is for thy greater glory and the good of my soul, I humbly entreat Thee to grant my petitions in this Novena (Here mention petitions) …Teach me to be merciful for Thou hast said: “Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy.” Amen.
Mother of God pray for me!
Pater, Ave, Gloria (Once)
