410 The Visigoths sack Rome and plunder the city after someone opened them the doors to the city, disappointing the Christians who hoped upon God’s protection of this ecclesiastical centre of early Christianity. St. Augustine (354-430) later took up this religious problem in his monumental work, “City of God” (ca.413-27).
552 Passing away of Menas, the patriarch of Constantinople, who was actively involved in the issues of his day. He opposed monophysitism and the teachings of Origen, and remained subservient to the Roman pope.
1456 Volume two of the famous Gutenberg Bible was bound in Mainz, Germany, after two years of work on its publication, making it the first full-length book to be printed using movable type.

1779 Martyrdom of Greek monk Cosmas of Aetolia by Muslims. Cosmas had preached throughout Greece aiming at the revival of the church and had founded over two-hundred schools.
1795 Repose of Samuel Stennett, an outstanding dissenter (non-Anglican) preacher and a personal friend of King George III of England.
1854 The German Lutherans organized the Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Lowa. This synod merged with the synods of Ohio and Buffalo and formed the American Lutheran Church in 1930
1894 Alois Majonga Mncadi is sent to Rome to study Theology. He became the second black African to become a Catholic priest in South Africa.
1906 Five Baptist congregations meet at Jellico Creek, Whitley County, Kentucky, to form the Church of God of the Mountain Assembly.
