October 31: Saint Quentin

Saint Quentin also known as Quentin of Amiens was born in Rome. He was a martyr in Gaul. He was the son of Zeno, who had senatorial rank. Filled with Apostolic Zeal, Quentin traveled to Gaul as a missionary with sain Lucian. He settled at Amiens and performed many miracles there. He was imprisoned by his preaching. But later he was miraculously escaped and again started preaching. Quentin has been tortured again, the threats did not undermine his faith. so the officer subjected Quint to brutal persecution.

The nails dripped between the nails of his hands and feet. Later the nail was driven into his skull. Seeing that none of this bothered him of the skin from his neck to his thighs. Finally, the saint beheaded and thrown secretly into the marshes around the Somme, by Roman soldiers. It was in 287 that Quentin was martyred.

He is the patron saint of bombardiers, chaplains, locksmiths, porters, tailors, surgeons, invoked against coughs, sneezes, and dropsy.
