Pope Leo XIV Calls for Prayer for Compassion in June

Pope Leo XIV has asked the faithful to pray during June to “grow in compassion for the world.” In a video message, the Pope invited Catholics to deepen their relationship with Jesus and learn from His heart’s compassion for the world. This prayer intention, which was continued from the previous pontificate, emphasises the importance of finding comfort in Jesus and emulating His compassion for those in need.

The Worldwide Prayer Network for the Pope, a pontifical organization promoted by Pope Francis, published the Pope’s prayer intention for June. The video features the Pope’s voice, accompanied by Jesuit Cristóbal Fones, director of the Worldwide Prayer Network, who places a lit candle at the foot of an image of the Sacred Heart.

The prayer asks God to grant all His children the grace of encountering Him and to shape their plans so that they may seek Him alone in every circumstance. It concludes by asking God to send them on a mission of compassion for a world where He is the source of all consolation.

The Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network is a pontifical work that mobilizes Catholics through prayer and action in response to challenges facing humanity and the Church’s mission. Founded in 1844 as the Apostleship of Prayer, it is present in 92 countries and comprises over 22 million Catholics.
