Women and Lent

We are going through days of prayer and renunciation. We surrender ourselves by meditating on the sufferings of Christ during this season of Lent. Many people are there these days who have decided to take up fasting and abstinence. But here are some suggestions that women can do during Lent.

1. Avoid Extra Time in Front of the Mirror

Generally, it is said that women spend more time in front of the mirror than men. You can try to reduce the duration of time you spend in front of the mirror during this Lent. Instead, use this time to praise and thank God for realizing that our health, beauty, and body are God’s blessings. And we can use this Lent time to think about others and to enter into a life of prayer.

2. Minimalism in Shopping

It is advisable during Lent to try to say goodbye to unnecessary and excessive shopping. Let us focus on buying the essentials. Other things can be omitted. This will help to fill us with the spirit of fasting. Such conscious omissions will nurture our spiritual health.

3. Take Sacrifices in a Spiritual Way

There may be things in every person’s life that they do not like. Such actions can be undertaken with sacrifice during this Lent. Many people have different kinds of likes and dislikes, such as yelling, talking to people who hate them and helping others. Our fast will be effective when we try to accept them with joy.

4. Reduce Screen Time

If we spend a lot of time on our mobile phones, it would be better to try to reduce it. Use the phone only when absolutely necessary. The rest of the time can be spent in prayer and with family. In addition, this time can be used to stay in touch with nature and plant plants and vegetables. In this way, fasting is transformed into change.
