Women and Children are not Alone in Ukraine; These Saints can Help Them

Thousands of people fled the country during the war in Ukraine. Children and women are the most of the refugees because men were told not to leave the country to join in army. As a result, many families are already separated. The children and their mothers are now refugees in neighboring countries. But to help them, there are some saints from the battlefield who beg for intercession in heaven for them.

Saint Josephine Bakhita

Saint Josephine Bakhita is a saint from Sudan. She has been a victim of many atrocities in the name of this communalism which she has lived as a slave for years. Bakhita, who started working in a family in Italy, was helped by the family to recognize her call to become a nun. Thus Bakhita became a member of the Canosian monastic community. In 2000, Bakita was canonized by Pope John Paul II.

Saint Olga

Olga is a saint from Kiev. She was a queen. This saint once converted to Christianity following a voyage to Constantinople. When the saint returned, she brought a few priests with her. They preached Christ in her country. Thus she lived her life as a devout Christian.

Saint Joan of Arc

This saint was the only maid in Orleans. But she not only led an army against the English but refused to give up her faith. She was eventually burned at the age of 19 for not giving up her faith.

Saint Perpetua and Saint Felicity

Both saints were martyred in the third century. Both of them became food for wild animals because they did not give up their faith.

Saint Monica

Saint Monica is the mother of Saint Augustine. This saint is the best mediator for mothers and children. It was only through her patience and prayer could call back her son into the Christian life.

Saint Margureite Bourgeoys 

This saint is the mediator of children who has dropped out of school due to various reasons. The nun left Europe for Canada at the risk of her own life and founded a new congregation. The saint aimed at educating the children.

Saint Teresa 

Many people know this saint as the possessor of a very peaceful and peaceful life. But the death of her mother at the age of four caused this saint great pain. This saint felt more and more lonely as the sisters then entered the monastic life one by one. But the love of Christ sustained this saint in the life to come.

Saint Catherine

Saint Catherine of Alexandria was a fourth-century martyr. Catherine. This saint has spoken with Joan of Arc. Despite much persecution in the name of her faith, she did not give up her faith. She was eventually beheaded and executed.

Saint Rebecca

Saint Rebecca was born in Lebanon in the 19th century. Her family forced her to get married at the age of fourteen. However, she resisted all marriage proposals because she realized that she has to become a nun. So she left the house and entered a convent of her own free will. Yet her suffering continued. She lived a blind life for the rest of her monastic life due to negligence on the part of the doctor during the operation. She passed away at the age of 83.

These saints are a source of comfort to women and children who are victims of violence. Let us seek the intercession of these saints to persevere in the face of adversity.
