Saint Agnes is a teenage saint who was able to make a very mature decision about life when she was just twelve years old. The life of this saint is still very important today. At just twelve, her decision to become a martyr for Christ came to an end.
Agnes rejected a marriage proposal made by a Roman prefect because she wanted to be a bride for Christ. After informing the authorities that she was a Christian, she was sentenced to be burned at the stake. She died for her faith in Christ. The decision she made when she was just twelve made her a saint and martyr in the church.
In today’s world, many of the decisions that children make are becoming for the comfort and happiness of this world. They may often go wrong. Let our children make decisions that bring us closer to God’s love. Parents should also encourage their interest in it.
They May be Kids, but Their Heart is Very Wide
The children in our home can be very young and playful. But there are many good lessons we can learn from children. The innocence and honesty of children’s minds are often the role models for adults. Adults need to rediscover their sincerity towards certain things.
St. Agnes was able to make good choices about her own life. She also showed the courage to stand up for her cause until her death. Her motivations were pure and her convictions uncompromising. It is a way of life that should be nurtured by the present generation as well. May our positions be firm and positive. Then the courage to die for Christ will grow in children too. We too can enable our children to make sound decisions
