“War Against Ukraine: a Painful and Shameful Occasion for the Whole of Humanity”: Pope Francis

During his Angelus address, Pope Francis, who is currently recovering from double pneumonia in a hospital, asked the Holy See Press Office to release about the upcoming three-year anniversary of the War in Ukraine on February 24, 2025. He described this anniversary as “a painful and shameful occasion for all humanity” and shared his solidarity with the suffering Ukrainian people and all victims of armed conflicts while praying for peace.

The Pope invited everyone to remember the victims of armed conflicts in various regions, including Palestine, Israel, the Middle East, Myanmar, Kivu, and Sudan. He expressed gratitude for the prayers and messages of support he has received, particularly letters and drawings from children, which he found moving. He concluded by requesting prayers for him and entrusted everyone to the intercession of Mary.
