Venezuelan Blessed Carmen Rendiles is on the path to sainthood, with a second miracle attributed to her reportedly close to being approved by Pope Francis. According to Metropolitan Archbishop of Caracas, Raúl Biord Castillo, the Vatican’s Dicastery for the Causes of Saints has given a positive vote on the supernatural nature of the alleged miracle, which would pave the way for her canonization.
The archbishop expressed his optimism, stating that the Pope would examine the votes and approve the miracle and canonization soon. He also emphasized the significance of this event for Venezuela, highlighting that the country’s first two saints will be a layman and a religious woman, recognizing the vital role Venezuelan women have played in transmitting the faith.
Blessed Carmen Rendiles was a Venezuelan Roman Catholic professed religious and the founder of the Servants of Jesus of Caracas. Born on 11 August 1903, she was beatified on 16 June 2018.
