Vatican Releases Pope’s Itinerary to Verona

The Vatican has published the official program of the visit that Pope Francis will make to the Italian city of Verona on 18 May, Saturday.

This Monday, April 29, the Press Office of the Holy See released the details of this intense trip of the Holy Father, which will last only one day.

Pope Francis will leave Rome by helicopter early in the morning, at 6:30 a.m. (local time) and will land at the Bentegodi Stadium at 8:00 a.m.

Here you will be received by the Bishop of Verona, Mons. Domenico Pompili; the president of the Veneto region, Luca Zaia; the prefect of Verona, Demetrio Martino; and the mayor of the city, Damiano Tommasi.

From there, he will go to the Basilica of San Zeno, where he will hold a meeting with priests and consecrated persons at 8:30 am.

Later, at 9:15 a.m., he will greet children and adolescents in the square of the same basilica.

After a brief greeting, Pope Francis will arrive at the famous Arena Amphitheatre, where he will preside over an event for peace titled “Justice and Peace will kiss” at 10:15 a.m. In this meeting, the Pontiff will answer various questions.

At 11:45 a.m., a car will take Pope Francis to the Montorio prison, from where he will read a speech. Later, at 1:00 p.m., he will share lunch with the prisoners.

At 3:00 p.m., the Holy Father will attend his last appointment at the Bentegodi stadium, where he will preside over the Holy Mass.

According to the official schedule, it is scheduled to leave Verona at 4:45 p.m. and land at the Vatican at 6:15 p.m.
