Understanding the seriousness of what adults say is a bit of a chore for kids. One such is the knowledge of God. No matter how simple it is to be explained, children may not understand it the way we want it to.
When talking about God, children usually have two misconceptions. Let’s see what they are…
1. God is a Magician
Many children have the misconception that God is a magician. This is because of the knowledge of God’s miraculous interventions. As a result, children develop the illusion that everything they ask for is from God and that they should be called only for their needs. It can cause the baby to focus only on miracles.
It is the duty of parents to change this tendency in their children. For that, they need to be told about God, His love, and sacrifice in a way that they can understand.
2. God is Punishing
Children who go through the events of the Old Testament may have a feeling that God is hard-hearted. This may be because of hearing about a punishing God. If God is punishing His people in the Old Testament, then the child should be told through stories why God cares and blesses the people after that punishment. Then they will understand the love of God.
