1501: Pope Alexander VI sanctions the Minim Friars, a religious order founded by Francis of Paola through his encyclical Ad ea quae circa decorem.

1532: Maria Cazzala, accused of Lutheranism, is arrested in Toledo, Spain. She was tortured and the trial went on for one year.

1727: Death of Francois de Paris in Paris; he was a saintly Jansenist at whose tomb extraordinary miracles occurred about which Louis Basile Carré de Montgeron, originally a skeptic, published three volumes with certified proofs.

1740: George Whitefield, English revivalist, implored God in his journal, “Lord, show that Thou dost love me, by humbling and keeping me humble as long as I live. The means I leave to Thee.”

1845: Organisation of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South at a convention in Louisville, KY, as a new denomination, separate from its mother church, the Methodist Episcopal Church.

1883: Handel and Haydn Society performs Anton Rubinstein’s sacred opera “The Tower of Babel” in Boston.

1933: Publication of the first issue of “The Catholic Worker,” founded by Dorothy Day and Peter Maurin; this monthly newspaper promoted social reconstruction through shared farming and housing for the urban poor.

1939: Launching of “Back to the Bible Broadcast” founded by Theodore Epp, in Lincoln, Nebraska, which is broadcasted by over 600 radio stations nationwide Today.

1942: Archbishop Edward Mooney, the new leader of the Catholic Church in Detroit, instructs Father Charles Coughlin, a popular radio broadcaster and an ardent supporter of Roosevelt and had sided with German socialism (Nazism) and attacked Jews and Communists in his radio broadcasts, to stop all non-pastoral activities warning him of dismissal in case of noncompliance.

1982: Demise of Ralph Darby Williams, the Assembly of God missionary who had spent his life equipping South American saints.

1992: A mob consisting of several hundred Muslims storms into the Assembly of God Church at Imbaba, in Cairo, Egypt, after the Friday prayers at the mosque.
