Around 20,000 people, including those with disabilities and their caregivers, have gathered in Rome and the Vatican for the Jubilee of the Sick, a special event on April 5 and 6, 2025, as part of the Jubilee Year 2025. The day began with pilgrims crossing the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, a symbol of spiritual renewal and hope.
The Jubilee of the Sick is a unique opportunity for people with disabilities and their caregivers to come together and experience a journey of faith. As Father Gatti explained, “It’s a great thrill and experience for our patients to be here, because they’re often confined to their homes or in shelters, where they receive good care, but they don’t always have the opportunity to experience things like this outdoors.”
