In Ukraine, it is customary to decorate the Christmas tree with spider webs. The reason for that is the story of a poor mother and children. They were so poor that they could not afford to buy Christmas tree decorations. Seeing the grief of that mother and children, the spiders began to decorate the Christmas tree for them at night. When the mother and children wake up in the morning, they see a beautifully decorated tree with spider webs. When the sun’s rays fell on it, they shone in gold and silver colors and became more beautiful. The woman considered the incident a blessing from God. With that, the misery of her life was gone.
Inspired by this story, the Ukrainian people began to decorate the Christmas tree with spider webs.
