Pope Francis declared within the framework of the International Day of Families on 15 May, that “ the family is the main antidote to the problem of demographic winter ”.
This was expressed by the Holy Father through a brief and concise message published on his official Twitter profile.
In addition, the Pontiff made an international call and urged the promotion of “family-friendly” policies that welcome life.
For Pope Francis, “the family is the main antidote against poverty, material and spiritual, and also against the problem of demographic winter.”
“It is necessary that in all countries social, economic and cultural policies ‘friends of the family’ and the acceptance of life be promoted”, asserted the Successor of Peter.
Last Friday, May 12, in his speech with which he inaugurated the third edition of “The General States of Birth “, the Holy Father also asked governments for policies to end the “demographic winter” and increase the birth rate in Europe.
He also pointed out that ” the issue of birth is central to everyone, especially for the future of Italy and Europe.”
“Today, bringing children into the world is perceived as an enterprise run by families. And this, unfortunately, conditions the mentality of the young generations, who grow up in uncertainty, if not in disappointment and fear, ”the Pope warned.
