The Golden Jubilee Year of the Diocese of Mananthavady was inaugurated on 1 May. The Golden Jubilee celebrations of the diocese were officially inaugurated by the Archbishop Emeritus Mar Jacob Thoomkuzhy, the first Bishop of the Diocese of Mananthavady. The inaugural function began with the Holy Mass at 1.30 pm at Pastoral Centre, Dwaraka.
The Water Resources Minister Roshi Augustine handed over the keys to 50 houses built by the Diocese’s Social Services Department as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations.
Mr. Roshi Augustine congratulated the diocese for its efforts to identify the homeless through the Digital Community Survey and for actively intervening in their problems.
Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplani released the revised rules of the diocese. Mar Jose Porunnedam, the Bishop, Diocese of Mananthavady, released a calendar containing various plans and programs to be implemented during the Jubilee year.
The Diocese of Mananthavady was established on 1 May 1973 for the spiritual development of the immigrated Christians from Travancore to the Malabar regions of Kerala.
