None has the time to listen to each other as we living in a very busy world. As Christmas approaches, we find time to decorate the whole house, exchange gifts, and buy and plant trees. But above these, we have to achieve more. Here the Catholic shares four merry Christmas brings for us.
1. Love
Love is an essential element of every person’s life. It is not enough to keep it in the heart; must be expressed. We can show our love by exchanging gifts with our near and dear ones. But the best thing that we can give to someone is our time. The time we spend with others is a great expression of love. Spending time with someone who values our presence can be the greatest gift and happiness that we can provide for them in this Christmas season. The mealtime we spend time together is so delicious because there is so much love in it.
2. Generosity
The three Magi presented gold, myrrh, and frankincense as gifts to Jesus at his birth. What should we give baby Jesus as a gift he is born with? What Jesus really wants from us is ourselves. The shortcomings of lives can be gifted to him. All the riches of our lives being to God. Let us pray that our tendency to betray and our unloving hearts be filled with the love of Jesus.
3. Poverty
As soon as the shepherds heard the news of Jesus’ birth, they ran to see him. There was nothing stopping them from doing so. There were absolutely poor. What type of wealth prevents us from working for Jesus? Is it the arrogance of my mind? External wealth? Or any objects or persons? I need to be able to go off everything that hinders me as an idol. Only then will I be able to enter the holiness of the manger.
4. Brotherhood
We are the children of God, the father. Christmas is the season to celebrate this brotherhood. The idea of unity should be nurtured by family members, neighbors, and friends. Let’s strive to cultivate brotherhood by sharing food and giving gifts to the poor.
