The Blood of Saint Januarius Liquefies for Third Time this Year

The blood of Saint Januarius miraculously liquefied on 16 December, Friday in Naples for the third time so far this year.

The miracle of the liquefaction of the blood of Sant Januraius occurred at 10:56 am (local time), in the Chapel of the Treasury of San Gennaro in the Cathedral of Naples, reports the Italian Newspaper Corriere della Sera.

When Bishop Vincenzo De Gregorio, the abbot of the Treasury Chapel, opened the safe containing the reliquary of San Gennaro for the first time in the morning, the blood inside seemed completely solid, but a change occurred two hours later.

December 16 marks the anniversary of the preservation of Naples from the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 1631. This is one of three days a year when the reliquary is on display and local Neapolitans gather to see if the dried mass turns red. confined to one side of the locket changes to cover the entire glass.

The miracle is known and accepted locally, although it has not yet received official recognition from the Church.
