The Catholic priest Mark Chimezie Godfrey is released on October 13 in the Diocese of Umuahia, Nigeria. The priest is safe and unharmed by the kidnappers. Mons. Lucius Iwejaru Ugorjji, the Bishop of Umuahia affirmed that the priest’s safe return was God’s answer to our prayers.
Father Godfrey, a young priest who was ordained earlier this year, was kidnapped after celebrating Mass on the morning of Wednesday in the parish of San Gabriel, very close to his home. “I take this opportunity to express our deep gratitude to all the bishops, priests, consecrated men and women and all the faithful of Christ who helped us with prayers during the difficult and painful period of their captivity. May God bless you and reward you abundantly for your solidarity, ” the Bishop said. Fr. Godfrey is the latest among the kidnapped list of priests in Africa.
