Truth, beauty, and goodness are the best thing in life. I believe the best defense is a good offense. A mind filled with good and beautiful things just doesn’t have room for what’s sordid and crude.
We should have to create affection toward what is good and true by teaching them to love beauty from a young age. While raising children, there are many things you can do to love beauty.
- Fine ArtThe Montessori philosophy of education is advocated hanging beautiful fine art prints at the child’s level, instead of the garish images that are often billed as “art for kids.” Find many lovely fine art images, already framed, at secondhand shops! Let your kid’s bedroom holds a gallery wall of beautiful paintings, all from local thrift stores.
Fill your home with library books about art like the Come Look with Me series, the Katie and the Artists series, and Vincent’s Starry Night.
2. Music
Classical music can be intimidating. But I believe that, if you teach a child to intimately know and deeply love one great musical work, they will learn the tools to appreciate many other musical works as they get older.
3. Poetry
Poetry is delightful! Love to have “poetry teatime.” We all can be memorized after many readings. It is good recite among your family get together.
4. Nature
Raising kids who love nature is so important. Love and affection towards nature is not a simple but a vital matter of life. There should be a respecting culture to be inculcated in your kids’ attitude. And also enjoy the beauty of nature in a better way.
5. House Work
Keeping your house well is making your home better. It is necessary to keep the house neat and tidy.
Instead of saying, “Set the table” or “Clean your room,” I try to say something like, “How can we make the table look beautiful for our family tonight?” or “What can you do to make your room more beautiful?”
These are a few ways to teach children to love beauty. Appreciate always the beauty.
