St. Gianna believed deeply in the teachings of her Catholic faith. She was determined to live her faith out in her everyday life, as is evidenced by the following quotes:
- ”Love and sacrifice are closely linked, like the sun and the light. We cannot love without suffering and we cannot suffer without love.” Gianna gave the ultimate sacrifice when she was willing to offer her life to save her child.
- ”One earns Paradise with one’s daily task.” While Saint Gianna was not able to join missions because of her health, she dedicated her daily life to helping others through her work and cultivating a truly Christian life for her family.
- ”If you have to decide between me and the child, do not hesitate; I demand it, the child, save it,” Gianna told her husband, before the birth of her fourth child, of her wishes for them to save the baby over herself should the choice become necessary.
- ”Look at the mothers who truly love their children: how many sacrifices they make for them. They are ready for everything, even to give their own blood so that their babies grow up good, healthy and strong.” Saint Gianna was dedicated to her family.
