Some Smiles are Beautiful: Chef Suresh Pillai who Saved the Employee’s Family from Manipur

It has been more than two months since the ethnic conflicts arose in Manipur. But Chef Suresh Pillai has set an example by providing safety for two people who were stranded in the land of riots where humanity has been frozen. Chef Pillai safely brought the mother and sister of his employee from Manipur to Kerala, who works at the “Restaurant Chef Pillai” in Kochi. Pillai shared this information on his Facebook page and now it is making the waves of love.

The translated version of Chef Pillai’s FaceBook post is shared for the readers of Catholicnews.in:

How beautiful some smiles! Laughter fills the hearts of those around. This image has a soulful story to share.

This is Susmita and her family, the service team at RCP Kochi. Susmita has been part of RCP for the past seven months. She is very smart and active, won the ‘Best Employee’ award three times, and a native of Manipur. A girl who always keeps a smile on her face and completes all her tasks with heightened enthusiasm. But a few days ago, the smile seemed to fade, and the General Manager of RCP Kochi, Charles, sought an explanation from Susmita.

“My mother and younger sister are left on their own at home. I don’t know what to do.” Susmita’s mind was overwhelmed with the grief for her mother and sister, stranded at home in the turbulent atmosphere of Manipur; their situation was beyond our imagination. The family has been managing with the income sent by Susmita.

Charles informed me of this situation. The solution we found was to bring Susmita’s family to Kerala. Thus both of them were brought to Kochi and the necessary facilities were arranged for their stay. They did not know any language other than Manipuri. But they were not ready to stay at home without doing anything.

Both reached the R.C.P. And Susmita’s mother Impecha Devi joined RCP as a helping assistant and Sarfi Devi, his sister as a Chef Trainee. They learned all their jobs in just two weeks. Now language is not a barrier for them. Today they live very happily in the RCP family. I assured them that they will remain part of the RCP as long as they wish. At that moment, what else can we do for brightening the smile on their face?

Certain smiles are like that; the hearts of those who watch them will be filled with joy. There is no greater joy than when we are able to brighten someone’s face with a smile. Today, whom are you going to make happy even with a smile?
