Six killed in a tragic accident, including a priest, three nuns, one teacher, and a driver, that took place in Sumer, Ri Bhoi District, Meghalaya on 26 February, Sunday. A truck carrying cement was heading towards Guwahati, on reaching Sumer, the driver lost control of the steering and jumped the divider hitting the Bolero which was coming on the opposite lane killing all 6 occupants on the spot.
The dead have been identified, Fr. Mathew Das, Parish Priest and Principal St.John’s HS School, Barama, Sr. Melamine Dantes, Sr. Promila Tirkey, Sr.Rossie Nongrum, Mairan (Teacher), and the Driver. The bodies have been taken to Nongpho Civil hospital for Post-mortem.
