Silence can be Criminal’: Myanmar Catholics Urged to Speak out for their Country

Catholics in Mynamar were urged to speak out against the evil that destroy their country by Cardinal Charles Bo of Yangon. The people can bespeak not out of hatred but out of love, he made this call in his Mission Sunday homily on October 24.

“Challenging times to speak in the country where the escalation of brutal repression by the military continues relentlessly nine months after the coup on February 1. Silence can be criminal in times when evil chose to dance in the streets, ” he said. Cardinal Bo reminded that proclaiming the Good news of God can be done like when the apostles met Jesus and were in His love.

The first Christians began the life of faith amid hostility and hardships. Cardinal Bo concluded his speech by expressing a strong-worded call on the international powers to stop exporting arms to Myanmar.
