Share the Story of Fatima with Our Kids

Here are some ways to tell the story of Fatima. Our Lady appeared to three shepherd children at Fatima 106 years ago this month.

LĂșcia dos Santos and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto saw apparitions of Our Lady.

Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta were brave and steadfast even when they faced disbelief, punishment, and imprisonment.

1. Pray Rosary Together

Our Lady of Fatima urged the children to spread the message to pray the Rosary for our world.

She even asked them to add this prayer to the end of the Rosary:

“O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to Heaven, especially those most in need of Thy mercy. Amen.”

This is a great occasion to pray the Rosary with our kids today. You can include the Fatima prayer too. We can pray especially for peace in the world, as Our Lady of Fatima asked.

2. Narrate the Story of Fatima

The Day the Sun Danced is one among many movies about Fatima. But some of us remember finding these movies scary as kids, so use your best judgment about whether they’d be a good fit for your kids.

It would be to share the story in a picture book or audiobook.

3. Make Craft to Honor Our Lady

A Marian craft can make in honour of Our Lady. Through this, the idea of apparition will be in the heart of your kid. You can draw a picture and give them to paint it. Or you can do something interesting like sand painting, or making a rosary by saying, Hail Marys.
