The Private Secretary to Pope Benedict XVI, Archbishop Georg Gänswein will publish his memoirs from his time as private secretary entitling “Nient’altro che la verità. La mia vita al fanco di Benedetto XVI” ( Nothing but the truth. My life with Benedict XVI).
The book of the former secretary of Benedict XVI will also show “a personal testimony about the greatness of a gentleman, an excellent scholar, a cardinal and a Pope who has marked the history of our time, “says the Italian publisher “Piemme”.
“Today, after the death of the Pope emeritus, it is time for the current Prefect of the Papal Household to tell his own truth about the flagrant slander and dark maneuvers that have tried in vain to overshadow the Magisterium and the actions of the German Pontiff,” reported, “Piemme”.
Bishop Georg Gänswein is a Doctor of Canon Law. He had worked in the Roman Curia since 1995 and in the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, whose prefect was Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger since 1996.
In 2003, Ratzinger appointed him his private secretary. Since 2005, after the conclave, Bishop Gänswein was the Pope’s closest collaborator.
Even after his resignation in 2013, the German Archbishop remained by the side of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, until his death on 31 December 2022.
