Russian Soldiers Steal the Chalice of John Paul II in Ukraine and Destroy the Image of the Virgin of Fatima

The Sacred Heart Catholic seminary in Vorzel, Ukraine, was looted by Russian soldiers in this Sunday. The chalice was used by Saint John Paul II during his apostolic visit to the country in 2001. They destroyed an image of Our Lady of Fatima.

According to the Bishop of the diocese of Kyiv-Zhytomyr, Msgr. Vitaliy Kryvytskyi, the Russian soldiers stole all the valuables found in their path. They also destroyed religious images, including a sculpture of the Virgin of Fatima.

On June 23, 2001, Saint John Paul II made a historic trip to Ukraine, the country that has suffered war since last February 24 Vladimir Putin ordered Russian soldiers to invade his land.
