Father Manuel Dorantes from Chicago (United States), a Nicaraguan priest asked to continue to pray for the “miracle” of the release of the Bishop of Matagalpa, Mons. Rolando Álvarez was sentenced to 26 years and 4 months in prison by the dictatorship of Nicaragua.
In a video shared on Twitter by Fr. Dorantes of the Archdiocese of Chicago, Fr. Erick Díaz, a priest of the Diocese of Matagalpa, invited the faithful to participate in his first Mass, this Sunday at noon, in the parish Santa Maria del Lago.
The priest pointed out that at Mass they will “give thanks to God for the release of the 222 political prisoners”, 3 of whom take part in the celebration.
The Eucharist, said Fr. Díaz, will also serve to “continue praying for our Bishop Mons. Rolando Álvarez, who has been sentenced to 26 years in prison, to tell the world and God to continue accompanying him in this great miracle that we continue to ask for ”.
“Justice will shine and injustice does not have the last word,” the priest stressed.
The dictatorship of Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua sentenced Monsignor Rolando Álvarez Lagos to 26 years and 4 months in prison on February 10, accused of being a “traitor to the homeland.”
The sentence against the bishop, who the dictatorship also stripped of his Nicaraguan nationality, came just one day after the deportation of 222 political prisoners.
