Temptations or temptations to do evil are always an obstacle to our friendship with God. In each moment of life, we are going through so many situations. Therefore, there can have different situations in our lives with higher temptations. Sometimes we may not be able to cope with such situations. We need God’s help to overcome temptation. There is no other way but to pray for it.
Here is a very short and beautiful prayer that will help you to imitate Christ in times of temptation and thus ask God for help. Through this prayer we can eliminate sinful situations and cling to Christ:
“Jesus, in this moment of temptation, pour out the power of your name. You know that I am incapable of avoiding this situation. Therefore, you have come to me. You know that I am on the verge of distress.
Dear Father, I do not know what to say. Come to my aid and save me at this moment when temptations surround me. Save me from these bonds of sin. God, I realize that at this moment I can not get help from anyone without you. So God, look at this sinner.
God, I am struggling to be with you and to fulfill your will. God, I am a sinner. Help me, even if I deserve to suffer. Send me the hand of your mercy in this moment of suffering and temptation. Otherwise, I will fall. Save me from these sinful situations, O merciful God, who has saved me from many mistakes in the past. Amen. “
