Prayer is the divine medicine that empowers one’s soul. We do not pray not only for the fulfillment of our desires. It is also to recognize God’s will and to walk in His path.
But our prayer life does not always have to be the same. It is normal to have fluctuations in it. Sometimes it can be tiring to pray. We will be stronger when we overcome it through prayer itself. There is a prayer prepared by St. Anselm to change his friend’s tiredness in prayer. This prayer will help us to overcome the stagnation in our prayer life:
‘Dear God, my prayer life is now frozen. O God, the fire that burns within me with your love is very little. But you, the Most Merciful, can help me. Bring me and my friend (friend’s name), who is frozen in prayer, out of the spiritual freeze. Fill us with spiritual refreshment by your mercy.
O God, your mercy is higher than all human love. So you hear my prayer. So let me/we quickly return to a life that suits your will. Wherever we are, be under your control and protection. Bless us to live as you please until we reach the God who is eternal and eternal. Amen. ‘
