Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, the Papal Almoner, has announced the arrival of several truckloads of humanitarian aid in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, sent by Pope Francis. The aid includes food, clothing, hygiene products, and medicines, and is part of the Pope’s ongoing support for Ukraine since the start of the conflict.
The trucks, which departed from Rome on 8 August, arrived in Kharkiv on August 12, carrying essential goods for the local population. The operation was managed by the Dicastery for Charity, led by Cardinal Krajewski, with the support of a group of Pontifical Swiss Guards.
Greek-Catholic Bishop Vasyl Tuchapets of the Kharkiv Exarchate expressed his gratitude to the Pope and the Holy See for the aid, which has been distributed to those in need through the local Greek-Catholic Church.
Cardinal Krajewski also thanked the Swiss Guards and the many Romans who contributed to the aid effort, as well as Pope Francis for his continued support for Ukraine.
This latest act of solidarity from the Pope comes as a testament to his commitment to those suffering in Ukraine and serves as a reminder of the ongoing need for support and aid in the region.
