Pope Leo XIV Warns About Impact of AI on Family Life

Pope Leo XIV has expressed concern about the growing influence of digital environments and artificial intelligence on family life, stating that these tools “silently guide the gaze, desires and criteria of all family members”, weakening dialogue and educational presence.

The Pope made this remark in a message to the International Congress of Families (CIFAM) in Mexico, highlighting obstacles families face, including fear of commitment and the challenges of sharing time and transmitting faith in secularized contexts.

Pope Leo XIV emphasized the role of hope in families, citing Christ’s insertion into human relationships and the strength of the Holy Family. He invoked the protection of Saints Louis Martin and Zélie Martin, parents of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, as models for families today.
