Pope Leo XIV continues to make positive strides in his recovery following lung surgery, according to an update issued on Thursday afternoon by his medical team, Dr. Luigi Carbone and Prof. Stefano Margaritora. On his third day at Gemelli Hospital, routine morning checks returned normal results, with a chest X-ray confirming good recovery in the operated lung. His doctors reported that the Holy Father’s overall postoperative progress remains completely on track.
Demonstrating strong physical progress, the Pope has been carrying out his daily routine independently. As part of his ongoing treatment, he completed a physiotherapy session that covered a full range of physical activities.
Alongside his physical recovery, Pope Leo has also begun resuming his regular duties and spiritual routine. The Holy See Press Office confirmed that on Thursday morning, he concelebrated Mass in a specially prepared room on the hospital’s 10th floor, following a similar service held on Wednesday afternoon. Later in the day, he returned to administrative work, meeting with Archbishop Paolo Rudelli, Substitute for General Affairs.
