Pope Leo XIV Dedicates July Prayer Intention to Respect and Protection of Life at Every Stage

Pope Leo XIV is asking the faithful to pray during July for “respect for and protection of human life at all stages, recognizing it as a gift from God.” The intention was published by the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network, a pontifical work entrusted to the Jesuits. The network announced the Holy Father’s July prayer intention on June 30, noting that the monthly intentions are part of a broader process of prayer and discernment.

According to the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network website, “these prayer intentions are the product of a long synodal process of discernment by the Church, in various countries of the world, encompassing proposals from various Dicasteries, Congregations and services of the Holy See.”The process takes “several months,” after which the Holy Father “takes time to pray and discern” before entrusting “his twelve prayer intentions to all the faithful.” The network describes these intentions as “guidelines for our life and mission.”
