Pope Francis explained a day before the Solemnity of Pentecost what the Holy Spirit is. The Pope posted on his official Twitter profile, the Holy Father that the Holy Spirit “is a source of joy that is born from the relationship with God.”
He then pointed out that this “source of joy” is also born from knowing that, even in difficulties and in dark nights, we are not alone, lost, or defeated, because He is with us.
In this way, he assured,” with Him we can overcome everything, even the abysses of pain and death”.
Tomorrow, Sunday, May 28, the Solemnity of Pentecost is celebrated, the day on which the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Virgin Mary and the apostles is commemorated, fifty days after the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Chapter two of the Acts of the Apostles describes that “suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house in which they were. Tongues like fire appeared to them, which were distributed and rested on each one of them; they were all filled with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:1-11).
Pope Francis will celebrate the Holy Mass of this solemnity in St. Peter’s Basilica at 10 am (Rome time). Later, at 12 pm (Rome time), he will direct the last Regina Coeli of Easter season from the window of the Apostolic Palace of the Vatican.
