The Lenten initiative “24 hours for the Lord”, promoted by Pope Francis, will take place from Friday, March 17 to Saturday, March 18.
The Holy Father will preside over this tenth edition on March 17 at 4:30 pm (local time), in the parish of Santa Maria delle Grazie al Trionfale in Rome (Italy), instead of in Saint Peter’s Basilica.
Pope Francis will begin this day with the traditional penitential liturgy. In addition, it is expected that, as on previous occasions, he will confess some of the faithful and also confess himself.
From the Vatican, the proposal to the dioceses and parishes, in Italy and throughout the world, to celebrate the moment of prayer also in their own communities is renewed.
During this time, all the faithful who wish may receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and at least one parish in each diocese of the world is invited to remain open 24 hours to facilitate prayer and Confession.
“24 hours for the Lord” is carried out in preparation for Easter, offering the faithful and pilgrims the possibility of stopping at any time in adoration and the opportunity to confess.
