On Friday, 3 November, Pope Francis will celebrate the traditional Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican in honor of the cardinals and bishops who have died in the last 12 months.
This year, it will be done especially in memory of Benedict XVI, who died on December 31, 2022, and appears first on the list.
Following the Solemnity of All Saints on 1 November, the Liturgical Celebrations Office reported that the Eucharist will take place on 3 November, Friday at 11 a.m. (Rome time) at the altar of the Chair of Saint Peter.
Pope Benedict XVI died at age 95, ending the momentous life of a man of the Church who called himself a humble worker in the Lord’s vineyard.
