Pope Francis Urges to Stop Violence in Ecuador

Pope Francis expressed his concern and worries over the recent unpeaceful scenario in Ecuador. The Holy Father expressed his spiritual closeness and asked: “to abandon violence and extreme positions.”

At the conclusion of the Angelus prayer on June 26, Pope Francis told the faithful gathered in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican that he follows “what is happening in Ecuador with concern.”

Along these lines, the Pope expressed his closeness to the population of Ecuador “and encouraged all parties to abandon violence and extreme positions.”

“Let us learn: only through dialogue will it be possible to find, hopefully soon, social peace, with special attention to marginalized populations and the poorest, but always respecting the rights of all and the country’s institutions,” Pope Francis said.

Ecuador is facing conflicts between the government and groups of citizens regarding inflation.
