Pope Francis urged to pray for the mothers who lose their children in the war in Ukraine. The Ukrainian and Russian mothers who have lost their children in the war in Ukraine began with the invasion of Russian troops on 24 February 2022.
This was indicated by the Holy Father after praying the Angelus this Sunday in Saint Peter’s Square in the Vatican, on the day of the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord.
“Let’s not forget our Ukrainian brothers and sisters! They suffer so much from the war. They suffer a lot this Christmas, without light, without heat, they suffer a lot. Please, let us not forget them”, Pope Francis asked the faithful present.
“Today, looking at the Virgin who carries the Child in the manger, who cares for him, I think of the mothers of the victims of the war, of the soldiers who fell in this war in Ukraine,” the Holy Father continued.
“Ukrainian mothers and Russian mothers who have lost their children. This is the price of war”, lamented the Pope.
In conclusion, the Pontiff once again asked to pray “for the mothers who have lost their sons as soldiers, whether they are Ukrainian or Russian.”
