Pope Francis to Release ‘first memoir Published by a Sitting Pontiff’ in January

Pope Francis will release his first memoir in January 2025, and will become the first sitting pontiff to publish an autobiographical memoir titled “Hope”.

Random House Publishing announced the unprecedented project, initially planned for posthumous release, but expedited due to the upcoming 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope.

Pope Francis began working on the memoir in March 2019, sharing his personal story, family history, and experiences as a spiritual leader. “The book of my life is the story of a journey of hope…a journey that I cannot separate from the journey of my family, of my people, of all God’s people,” he stated.

Co-authored with Carlo Musso, “Hope” promises a unique perspective, featuring unpublished stories and revelations from the pontiff’s life. The memoir spans his childhood, vocational journey, the papacy, and present day, offering an intimate glimpse into the life of the spiritual leader of the Catholic Church.
