Pope Francis will celebrate the Mass for the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed on 2 November at the Laurentian Cemetery in Rome. He will also visit the “Garden of the Angels,” a section dedicated to deceased children and unborn babies. This tradition, observed annually, marks a significant event in the Catholic calendar. Last year, the Pope visited the Rome War Cemetery, condemning the violence of war and its ongoing impact.
The Pope’s visit to the Laurentian Cemetery continues his custom of honouring the deceased at various Rome cemeteries since his pontificate began. Previous visits include Campo Verano monumental cemetery (2013-2015), Prima Porta cemetery (2016), and the American cemetery in Nettuno (2017).
On 4 November, Pope Francis will also preside over a Mass of suffrage for cardinals and bishops who passed away in 2024 at St. Peter’s Basilica.
