Pope Francis: The Nativity and the Christmas Tree are for Filling Our hearts with Peace

Pope Francis has given a brief reflection on the symbols of this Christmas season, particularly the nativity scene and the Christmas tree on the occasion of the beginning of Christmas Novena on 16 December.

“The symbols of Christmas, especially the nativity scene and the decorated tree, remind us of the certainty that fills our hearts with peace: joy for the Incarnation, for God who becomes familiar, dwells with us, instills hope in our days”, the Holy Father encrypted on his Twitter account.

The symbols of Christmas, especially the nativity scene and the decorated tree, remind us of the certainty that fills our hearts with peace: joy for the Incarnation, for God who becomes familiar, dwells with us, instills hope in our days.

The Pope also gave the meditation when he received the manger last week.

“The tree and the manger introduce us to the typical Christmas atmosphere that is part of the heritage of our communities: an atmosphere of tenderness, sharing, and family intimacy. Let’s not live a false Christmas, please, a commercial Christmas! ”Said the Pontiff.

“Let us allow ourselves to be enveloped by the closeness of God, that closeness that is compassionate, that is tender; enveloped by the Christmas atmosphere that art, music, songs, and traditions bring to our hearts ”, encouraged Pope Francis.

Speaking that day about the birth that this year was carried out by craftsmen from the Andean department of Huancavelica in Peru, and who represent the Chopcca community, the Pope said: “that the characters of the manger, made with materials and clothes characteristic of the area, represent the peoples of the Andes and symbolize the universal call to salvation ”.

“Jesus came to earth in the concretion of a people to save all men and women, of all cultures and nationalities. He became small so that we could welcome him and receive the gift of God’s tenderness ”, the Holy Father emphasized.
