Pope Francis Sent a Rosary to the Elected President of Argentina

Pope Francis sent a rosary to the elected president of Argentina, Javier Milei on Friday, November 24.

The piece, blessed by the Holy Father, was sent for Milei and the vice president-elect, Victoria Villarruel .

This was reported by the Office of the President-Elect through its X account.

Pope Francis’ gift comes after the telephone communication he had last week with the future President of Argentina, in which the Pontiff congratulated him and advised him to have “courage and wisdom” for this new period.

Javier Milei, for his part, took advantage of the occasion to invite the Pope to visit the country in 2024.

Both gestures mark the beginning of a new relationship between the two, a bond that in the past had gone through some tensions due to the insults and criticism that Milei had publicly expressed against the Holy Father.

Javier Milei, a libertarian economist, won on November 19, in the second electoral round, over the candidate Sergio Massa, who represented the continuity of the current government, with a Kirchnerist orientation.

While Massa proposed a model based on a State present and intervening in the country’s economic growth, Milei obtained the majority of votes with proposals such as eliminating taxes, removing subsidies and promoting the free market, reducing the presence of the State to a minimum.

The new president of the Nation will take office on 10 December.
