Pope Francis prayed for Myanmar last Sunday in St. Peter’s Square. The Pontiff prayed for the country to get the gift of peace for the ‘beloved land’ which had suffered through so much pain in recent times. This is not the first time the Pope prays for the country.
“The hands of those who live there may no longer wipe away tears of pain and death, but may join together to overcome difficulties and work together for the coming peace,” the Pope prayed. The military seized the control of the government in Myanmar six months ago. From then on, protesters and military troops faced each other and this caused many deaths and wounds. Attacks on ethnic minorities have increased. Around 200000 people have been displaced.
